Christmas is on the way and after a year dominated by lockdown supermarket delivery slots are being snapped up.
There are delivery slots available in 2-hour delivery windows. These are available from 10am to 10pm, 7 days a week. Each delivery slot has a maximum capacity, so place you order well in advance to guarantee the slot you want. You can order your shopping up to 3 weeks in advance. Four supermarkets in NI have agreed with the Department for Communities to prioritise delivery slots for people who are shielding during the pandemic. The supermarkets involved are Tesco, Asda. New delivery slots - and more on their way During the last week Tesco has been given an initial list of 110,000 clinically vulnerable and isolated people by the UK Government. Tesco says that due to the upturn in demand, delivery slot availability has been decreased but that the company is doing its best to respond to demand. The website doesn’t allow bulk buying.
Tesco, Asda and M&S have already warned about limited slots for Christmas supermarket deliveries, while the likes of Iceland have not yet released their delivery slots.
As many people stay at home demand for deliveries is set to be high so if you are looking for a Christmas food delivery now is the time to act.
We have taken a look at every supermarket in the UK and checked for delivery slots.Iceland
Iceland is offering free Christmas delivery for any orders over £35. You can order from Monday 14 December up to Friday 18 December here.
Delivery slots are available between 6am and 11pm up to 23 December. However, there is a way to get some money off your Iceland Christmas shop.
You can join Topcashback and get £15 off your Iceland Christmas shop. If you spend £35 for the free delivery it will cost you just £20 if you are a new member of Topcashback. You can join here.M&S
M&S is already warning that due to extremely high demand, there are now limited products and collection slots available. There are still slots but you will have to move quickly.
Slots are available between 22 and 24 December for Christmas and 30 and 31 December for New Year orders. You can also pre-order and pay the balance when you collect in store.

Asda has opened its delivery and collection slots for Christmas. The store says: ’Slots sell out fast at this busy time so make sure you book as soon as you can. Once slots are gone, they’re gone!’.
Plus if you have a recurring slot you won’t be able to use it between December 19 and January 3, so you’ll need to book a new slot during that time period. Then your regular slot will restart automatically after January 3.Tesco Delivery Service

Tesco’s website states: ’We’re experiencing high demand for slots around Christmas’.
Currently shoppers can book a click & collect slot or a flexi saver delivery slot, due to high demand.
The supermarket has also given shoppers some tips for stress-free ordering including booking your slot and adding only a few items to checkout to give you more time to make your list. Then once you’re ready to finish your order just go back and check out again by 11:45pm on the day before your delivery.
If you’ve forgotten something don’t worry because you can also amend your order as many times as you like, just make sure to check out each time you do.
Finally if there’s any Festive Food to Order items in your Christmas basket, you’ll need to check them out by 11:45pm on December 14. You can still amend other items that aren’t part of Festive Food to Order until 11:45pm on the day before your delivery. But you won’t be able to amend a Festive Food to Order item unless you want to remove it completely.

Sainsbury’s has opened its delivery and collection slots for December 20-23.
The store is urging customers to plan ahead and beat the rush by securing a slot that’s right for them, three weeks in advance.
Then once you’ve secured a slot you’ll need to check out, but you won’t be charged for your basket until the day of delivery or collection. You can also amend your basket as many times as you like until 11pm the day before.

Shoppers can get a Morrisons same-day delivery throughout December when ordering through Amazon.
The two have teamed up ahead of Christmas and you can book a delivery up to 3pm on December 24 - depending on availability.
They will then resume taking orders from 12pm on Christmas Day for grocery essentials from December 26.
The delivery is free for Prime members, so if you’re not already a Prime member you can sign up for a free 30-day trial and take advantage of the Morrisons delivery as well as other Prime benefits including TV and film streaming and next-day delivery on thousands of products.

Some stores are even continuing to work with the Government to identify their most vulnerable customers and dedicating delivery slots to them.
With the number of coronavirus cases growing it’s understandable the demand for a slot is growing especially as more people are now self-isolating.
For those who are worried about not being able to get a slot, some stores such as Asda are offering Volunteer Shopping Cards which can be topped up and mean a friend can do shopping for you.
However, for those still trying for a slot, we’ve taken a look at Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s & Iceland’s website for slots available and the latest information you need.

Tesco is currently limiting the amount new Delivery Saver sign-ups due to the increased demand for online slots, a message on its website reads.
The supermarket is warning customer it is at full capacity for delivery slots for the next few weeks and is asking those who have one but are able to shop in store to do so.
Its message continues: ’We’re looking at every opportunity to increase the number of slots available. As we increase our capacity, we’ll also set aside more of these slots for our most vulnerable customers.
’Our deliveries are continuing, and we’ll deliver to customers in self-isolation. You can let us know that you’re in self-isolation when you order (using the delivery notes box) or let the driver know at the door so that they can deliver safely.
’We’re no longer automatically delivering with bags and trayliners, so you’ll need to choose to get your shopping in bags when you check out.

We tried to book a Tesco delivery slot using either its Fixed one hour slot service or its Flexi Saver Slot. Using Tesco’s Flexi Saver slot (this is when you chose a time window rather than a specific hour) the nearest times available were:
Sunday, October 11 - 10am - 2pm, 11am - 3pm, 6pm - 10pm
Monday, October 12 - 5pm - 9pm, 6pm - 10pm, 7pm - 11pm

Asda is currently not offering new delivery passes due to high demand. It also says it cannot guarantee delivery slots to existing customers Delivery pass customers either.
However, it is advising that customers who find they have not saved money this year by opting for the pass will get a refund.
Asda has described demand for online delivery as ’really high’ but does advise customers to keep checking back as new slots become available as the supermarket increases its capacity.
We did manage to find a slot available for this Sunday, October 4 at 7.30pm-8.30pm or for Monday, October 5 between 6pm-7pm.
This was based on our local store which is Aintree.
There were also a range of slots available for Tuesday, October 6 from 2pm.

However, it is continuing to prioritise access to home delivery slots for vulnerable customers, and are releasing new slots regularly.
